Storm sail

Hi is there anybody who is installed a releasable stay for a storm sail. Or do you have any idea for this installation. Thank you. I'm going in the north Atlantic near of Newfoundland and I would like a storm sail.

Andre- I have NOT had any experience with installing an intermediate forestay or releasing forestay however, I would be concerned that you need to add some significant strengthening to the deck/hull structure. Perhaps ask the Catalina factory for a recommendation. The video below is about a single handed fellow who added a second forestay to his Baltic brand yacht to add a staysail. You might find it interesting. Also, there is a product called a "Gale Sail" that attaches a storm sail over/around your existing head stay. My opinion (and others) of this option is it is hard to attach in a blow but some people use it.
