All,

I just found there is a safety recall on Kidde fire extinguishers built from 1973 through August this year. There is a chance it may not discharge. Here is the link for you to see if yours is on the list.   http://www.kidde.com/home-safety/en/us/

One of the ones on Hakuna Matata is on the list so they will replace it.

Good heads up. I switched to (very expensive) Halotron fire extinguishers after I upgraded my electrical system and electronics. The damage from spraying the new gear with corrosive dry chemical powder would have been even more expensive.

Hi Noah,

Where did you buy your Halotron extinguishers from? I'm trying to find a source here in Canada.

I bought them at West Marine/aka Port Supply with a bit of a "discount".  Mine are Kidde brand but there are several brands including Badger and Amerex, available online. I have two small ones; one each  mounted in the nav station hanging locker and the V-berth hanging locker and one "giant" one in the aft helm seat locker. I epoxied in a wood mount to attach the (optional) firetruck/ambulanc metal mounting bracket.
