The Heat Exchanger is the only place the internal and raw water cooling systems meet, however they do not mix. The heat exchanger removes heat from the antifreeze solution to keep the engine cool. It has an internal "pencil" zinc to prevent corrosion. There are two different sizes of heat exchangers, a 2" on early M25s and a 3" on the M25xp and M30s.
