General
With the introduction of the Catalina 34 Mark II the rudder was updated to be longer with an elliptical design. Some Mark I owners have updated their original rudders with a new Elliptical Rudder for more control and smoother handling.
Ron Hill has done his own impressive modification to the rudder on his Mark I with a Wing Keel.

- Rudder Removal drawing
Maintenance
Note that I used the resin method, using epoxy resin mixed with graphite (see West Systems website for info on making self-lubricating bearing surfaces.) But instead of pouring resin down the tube, I used the West caulking gun tubes, injecting the mix thru several holes drilled into the backside of the rudder tube. - KWKloeber 4/2015
