On our boats, where is the best place to mount the Epirb?

What type do you have? Where do you keep your flares? Perhaps there? Do you have an emergency kit, for when you need to evacuate your boat? Perhaps there. If its a personal one, how about on/with your lifejacket. It's no good unless it's with you.

a 406.
I keep the flares and jackets in port locker. Can't mount an EPIRB in there. Not enough room

We put ours in the aft stateroom. Mounted it behind the handrail of the entrance to The salon. Close but out of the way.  Our ditch bag is behind the stairs.

We have an automatic release Epird and mounted it directly on the stern rail. We take it out of the case when we aren't cruising.
