Holding Tank Leak

When I have my holding tank pumped out, there is liquid around the air vent connector at the top of the tank. It looks like it is between the tank and the 3" diameter (approx.) connector, not the hose. This was our first season with the boat and although we have only been pumped out a few times, it has happened each time.
1. I don't understand why there would be effluent pushed out the top of the tank while it was under suction and
2. Was this heat welded or can it be removed and resealed?

Thanks!  Dave

Dave, you might find this appropriate, and, if not, at least entertaining:

The mention, by Peggie, of Uniseal may help you out.

Our vent lines have a dip in them if you look closely, between the tank and where the hose rises up.  It could be that a full tank left enough in that hose to clog it.

There was also a recent discussion about vents:  http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,9170.0.html

Good luck.

Thanks Stu, definitely entertaining!
I replaced my vent hose and worked hard not to have a dip.  I did not realize that the uniseal was a flexible fitting and the new vent hose may be pulling on it too much.
On the other hand, one vendor says that they should be replaced every four years. The manufacturer claims a 25 year warranty.

If the uniseal has failed, has anyone ever replaced one?
I can't imagine if you have to use K-Y to put it in that it will be easy to get out 😄
