WADR, you guys are barking up a tree needlessly.  What you NEED to do is figure out how your electrical system works and wire it accordingly.  Read the Electrical Systems 101 topic, and there is one of my posts that explains the old wiring and how and why it worked.

It's not the color of the wire, it's what the wire is supposed to do and why, when you run your AO to the house bank, you don't need it at all.
