Hi

My installation was just like Rick's.
I remove it and plug the tank since the boat is on inland lake now.

But, the idea to go from toilet into tank, and use the macerator ONLY when far out a sea to empty the tank.
What I see, is that you won't forget the Y valve in the open position when coming back close to shore.
You need to activate the pump manually, so no accident.
