Just got my new boom for Moose (1986 #220) direct from Catalina (~$600).   It's setup for two mainsheet connection points.  The old was setup for three connection points.  Is there any reason to stick with 3?

Also, currently I have 2 line slab reefing. The boom is setup for single-line reefing, which I'm thinking of running back to the cockpit.  Any reason not to do this?  Does this work well?

thx

Frank, what happened to your old boom, or shouldn't I ask?
The three line connection distibutes the load better and you'll get less bending. In SF bay that can be important.  The one line reefing system means you will not get as nuch adjustment on the clew as you will on the tack. I like two lines so that I can get the clew down were it belongs.
Lets continue this and other stuff off-line. Sounds like your interested in racing. I don't do the Frid nite races.  But the fleet is doing the Inter-Club series. We have 9 signed up and you may be interested in joining us. I DON'T SEE YOUR NAME ON THE FLEET 1 ROSTER. Send me your Tel. #...My # is 650-948-3461
