While removing the sails in prep for the new sails install yesterday, I noticed this on the mast end of the boom fitting.

Note the crack in the hex shaped fitting.

I plan on removing the boom, cleaning up both front and back end plate assemblies, replacing the outhaul (original) and taking care of the split hex fitting.

What's the hex fitting called? Anyone know where to get one?

Thanks.

Paul

Just found it on CatalinaDirect.com

Gooseneck Casting Assembly

It looks as though it has the SS thru pin (critical upgrade)

Hi Paul,
I purchased the new end cap gooseneck assembly from Catalina Direct as well. My old gooseneck fitting looked the same as yours. When I removed the end cap assembly I looked the hex fitting over pretty closely but wasn't able to determine if it is actually a crack or a tooling mark. Regardless the upgrade gives you a more robust rig.

FYI - It took several months to get due to a supplier change. Hopefully that is now solved and you won't have that problem.
