I checked the manual and Catalina specifies 5/16 x 60 feet for traveler lines - seems a bit thin...just wondering if folks use 3/8 line for this purpose.  They also specify 3/8 for halyards, and I know many folks including myself upgrade that to 7/16

Thanks,

Roland,

On my 88 I had upgraded to the new traveler cars which provide for a 6:1 efficiency and the 5/16 is fine for us.

Roland : Strength wise the 5/16" is OK.
I increased the diameter on my traveler lines to 3/8", because it was easier to grip.

Don't use 3/8".  What happens is the lines swell eventually and then get trapped in the cheeks of the sheaves.  BTDT.  Steve's right, 6:1  5/16" is just fine.
