Guys : The anchor well has some merits for storing a gas cans but!
However, you are going to have to tie it down or it can/will tip on its side or even maybe turn upside down.

The only real vented safe place (I've found) in on deck tied down securely to something ridged.  Especially if you get into any kind of chop!

Amazingly, I went to the boat this weekend and it had not yet exploded from my gas tank in the lazerette.    :o
In all seriousness though, I did move my gasiline tank to the anchor locker for safe keeping.  If we anchor out, I'll likely keep it topside then into the dinghy.. but no more lazerette storage for gasoline.   :abd:
The sail, the play of its pulse so like our own lives: so thin and yet so full of life, so noiseless when it labors hardest, so noisy and impatient when least effective.

I have stored mine on one of the rear perch seats, tied down of course.
