I'm wondering how many of you guys that have the M35BC engine have experienced a broken alternator bracket?  The piece that holds the alternator to the engine.  NOT the adjusting arm.

I am Especially interested in those of you that are using other than the OEM alternator like a Balmar/Powerline/etc.

Good question, Ron.  I've been having a discussion on the Ericson website about this.  Any takers?

Ron,

I had a similar part fail on a 2005 M-25 XPB-C (the "C" is for Catalina). They had switched over to aluminum and from what I understand a number of them failed. The replacement they sell now is supposedly machined steel. According to Hansen Marine mine was one of the first failures of this they had seen. Westerbeke quickly switched from aluminum to steel.

The two eared piece is what broke on our motor. This pic was taken before the failure.
