Ed : The problem with a check valve in the bilge pump line is just that - everyone forgets to check if it is working properly, until it isn't working properly and the boat is near sinking.
I wouldn't recommend anyone installing a check valve in the bilge pump exit line.  
The back flow of water is minimal compared to the possibility of a complete stoppage from being clogged or just failing.  A thought
