The new flo jet water pump suddenly will not work. Tanks are empty. Power getting to unit. Can it be clogged? Any way to check what else may be going on.

Did you say "The tanks are empty?' It won't work without water to pump.

Cliff : I'm sure that you mean the tanks are full not empty!!
The first thing I'd check (after opening BOTH tank cut off valves) is to disconnect the IN water line to the pump and the water should flow out freely as it's lower than the aft tank.  If the water will not flow you then start working backwards to toward the water tanks with next being the strainer etc.  Maybe even the strainer should be checked first.

Yes sorry. the tanks are full. Well I spent  a hot morning working on the problem. I removed the pump and hooked it up directly to a 12v battery and it worked fine. So, I put it back and hooked it up and it ran fine pumping water for about 3 minutes and then stopped again. Drained and cleaned tanks and now it won't work again.  Is there some regulator in the pump that flo jet sells that can become erratic?

Do you have a filter on the system?

Cliff,

The pump has a PE switch that commands the pump on when a faucet is opened and turns it off when the pressure is satisfied.  Did your pump turn off and on during the 3 minutes that it did work?  If you have constant water to the pump and it shuts down you just might have a bad PE switch.

as they say, just a thought

2 filters; one on the pump and one in advance of the pump. It now does not run, regardless of whether their is water or not. I checked and their is power to the pump. I thought about that switch issue but did not know how to check it.

Cliff : When in doubt, call FloJet (800)235-6538!!  A thought

Oddly seems to work when faucets open but not when hoses all hooked up. so I will fill tanks again and we'll see given the new wiring connectors. PS Go2 marine was very helpful

Cliff : I've dealt with FloJet and they are good.
When I had problems they asked if the motor ran to which I said yes, it just doesn't pump water.  They sent me a new pump and I sent them the old one back as it was the pump, NOT the motor that was the problem.  A thought
