Recently when ever I try to mark items as read, I get an error message which states I should log out and then log in again. Even after doing this I get the same message even though the re log in is successful. Anyone else having the problem and know of a solution?

I have the same problem.

Also, the tech pages are missing and the spell check won't come up.

Keep the notes coming... I've recently upgraded to SMF 1.1, a major
upgrade for our bbs software and there are some issues as noted.

Current list:
- spell checking
- required log-out / log-in when marking 'all read'
- inline images not working in some themes

A few other problems that I'm dealing with on the backend.

I may have to give up on default theme (subSilver) as I'm not
sure how well supported it is and there may too many problems
with it.  (It's not always obvious when a problem is with the core
SMF/bbs software or the overlying Theme template but all of these
problems seem to be located in the theme template code.)

Themes...  if you're interested you can change your theme by
going to Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Current Theme
(though many of the themes are not configured/customized for our
site you get the idea)

More investigating required but in the meantime try the new added
features like RSS feeds on the top level. (Orange icon next to each
message board)

Thanks for checking into this Dave.  BTW, the RSS icons next to the boards don't work for me.  I have selected a skin other than the default one (can't remember which one); I wonder if my choice is affecting this feature?

Last night I completely reinstalled the message board software (& themes, attachments)
and we are still experiencing the same problems with our default Theme.

I guess I'll have to jump into the templates for a new Theme and customize
it for our site.

So... don't be surprised one of these days (hopefully sooner than later) that
the BBS will look totally different but those pesky bugs should be cleared up.

After that I'll be adding a couple more features and working out any remaining issues.

Until then you'll have to check our own spelling.. or update to a browser
that has built-in spell checking like http://firefox.com/  (btw: more secure
and extensible/customizable than IE)

I now need to log on each time I access this website - something I never had to do until recently

Guess I will jump in here also.  I was not using this theme until now.  But my old theme lost the links to projects, etc about two months ago and I have been trying different thems since.  Now on teh "silver" theme as that is the only one with the links.  But all the smiley icons have now goene away.  I sort of like the old themes that had working smiley faces, links , spell check.  Plus this theme takes up half my screen with the headings and the BIG news box.  I liked having narrow headings with links and plenty of space so see the messages and indexes.
