I have an in mast furling main and my 34 was hauled before I had a chance to take the sail off for the winter.  Will I do any damage to the sail or mast by leaving the sail in place for the winter or would I be better off to find a dead calm day and take the sail down on the stands?

I just bought a year 2000 C34.  The PO has stored the main in the mast the whole time.  When the surveyor unfurled it the thing looked like new.

Next I'll be looking to make a canvas "sock" for the genny so I can leave that up!

Right or wrong, everybody I know with an in-mast furler leaves the main in during the winter unless they're having the sail cleaned.
