Hi, I am a new owner of an '88 C34.  Well maintained and looks great.  The aft Ladder had a bungee cord holding it in place which seemed unsafe while underway.  I was looking over a friend's new C36 and notice they had Ladder Clips holding the ladder in place. I scanned the forums, talked with West Marine and others trying to find out to get a pair.  I finally called Catalina Parts to see if I could order a pair (Part # 29068).  Yee Ha! :thumb: They arrived today and I can't wait to put them aboard.  Has anyone installed these and have any advice?  Seems like a straight-forward install.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave  : I had the same flimsy Velcro strap.  I replaced mine in 1989 with a piece of 7/19 1/4" cable with a clip at one end.  Hard to believe that Catalina let those boats out of the factory with that ?? strap.
Think you need to drill thru the verticals next to the ladder up and us a bolt with a self locking nut.  Good luck.    :thumb:

Installatioin is very straight forward.  Just drill through the vertical posts on either side of the gate a few inches down from the top to leave enough room to flip up.  Have a sharp drill, stainless is hard.  Do a little preplanning.  Think about things you might want to add to rails.  I moved my outboard mount to add some stern seats.  Required moving one of the locking clips.  I now have a spare hole in tone of the support rails.   Several pictures of stern rails in the projects page, might want to look at a few for ideas.

I'm still using Velcro. At times, when I single hand, I tie a line, with a tennis ball attached to the ladder. I toss it over the transom, so if I go overboard, I could pull the ladder down with the line.
Obviously the ladder is not very secure while under way. (I also usually wear a harness but Murphy is out there.)I assume these clips simply wedge the ladder, so I could still easily pull the ladder down with my overboard line.
Thanks in advance,

Ken
