I have a 1986 Catalina 34 Hull #165 which I bought in May, 2001.  The instrument cluster on the port side of the cockpit contains 3 gauges: a tachometer/hourmeter, fuel gauge and ammeter.  Where is the oil pressure gauge that everyone is talking about?

My tachometer does not reset to zero when the engine is off and the hourmeter has only moved 2 hours or so during the last 50-60 hours of use.
Anyone who has any experience with the same problems?

I have #1515 with a Universal M-35C.  She has an oil pressure sensor, a warning light on the panel and an alarm (that's the shrill steady alarm when you turn on the key that should go off when the engine catches).  No gauge.  The sensor is low on the engine, about level with the dipstick, with two spade electrical connectors attached to it.  Mine is about half the size of a 35mm film canister.  I do have a water temperature gauge in addition to the ones you listed.

As to the Tach, sounds like a poor/intermittent connection or miscalibrated unit.
