In the process of rigging the boat I let loose the topping lift which preceded to disappear up and in the mast.  I tried to retrieve it by pulling on the end still in my possession.  After 10 feet or so it promptly jammed.  On what it could jam on has me puzzled.

I know I need to go up the mast and run another but I was wondering if there were any thoughts on how to retrieve the old one.  At this point I plan on feeding the rest of the line into the mast and let it sit on the bottom until I pull the stick again in the fall.

Thanks

I believe my topping lift doesn't "ingress/egress the inside of the mast. I could be mistaken. The point may be moot as at the very least your lift is out of reach. I would try the bosun chair approach before you "feed" the rest of the line into the mast and "let it sit on the bottom".

Good luck,

Ken
