Hard wired clock

I have a 1986, hull #12.  There is a brass clock on the bulkhead, which has stopped running.   Given that it needs to run at all times, I suspect it is direct-wired through the panel to the battery.  Any ideas or suggestions about checking this out before I go through the process of removing the panel (after disconnecting shore power, of course)?

First make sure it was hardwired in. i had a clock that used a battery that lasted over two years.

My brass clock comes apart by grasping the outer ring and unscrewing the clock from the base holder.  There is a small battery on the backside that runs it for a year or more.  I just changed it the other day.  I keep a spare behind the face in the holder.

Thanks for the advice.  Checked out the clock on Free Spirit last weekend and, indeed, it was NOT hard-wired.  Rather it had a face that could be removed and behind that I found a dead (and corroded) AA battery.  The clock is again running!!!
