Looks like the weather is supposed to stay nice through this coming weekend.  We're thinking of taking the boat over to James Island Friday evening to see if we can get a spot on the dock (I think they leave the dock in all year.)  If anyone else is interested in meeting over there, drop a line.  We could even bring a bundle of firwood for an evening camp fire.  Will probably have the whole island to ourselves.

Hi Ray,
Sounds great.  Wish I was ready!  The Washington State pass is on my list of things to buy.  Have fun this weekend.  We're having a weird weather year over on the E side with no snow since after Christmas break and snow pack less than 50 % of normal.  Hope that doesn't mean a wetter than normal summer!

Hello Randy,

The weather has been unusual over here too.  Sunshine for a couple of weeks straight, but cold at night.  Supposed to be up around 60 degrees today.

I'm going to keep bugging the Anacortes bunch with announcements on when we're heading out and where we'll be, just in case someone else can get away the same weekend.  Really looking forward to this summer and our annual trip up to Desolation Sound.  We might try and hit Princess Louisa Inlet this summer too.

Ray,
This looks good.  My son in Portland just told me that it was 73 there yesterday, so I know you are having good weather.  It is currently snowing here in DC with 4" on the ground.

Wish we were there to join you this weekend.  We have been to James in the winter and there was no dock, but we moored between the piling and the end of the fixed pier and were able to step up on it when the tide was high.  Not sure when and if they take it out.

We are planning a Desolation Sound cruse this summer also.  We are thinking the month of July.  What are your plans.  Maybe we can get together on this trip.  We would like to go to Princess Louisa also.

Hi Jack and Ruth,

We plan on heading up to Desolation Sound with a tentative depature date of July 5th.  July 4th is usually a busy holiday in my line of work, so I'll probably have to work that holiday so we're not short handed.  We'll have the boat loaded though and as soon as I'm off duty at 0600 hrs on 7/5/05, we'll be underway for three weeks of fun.  I think we made it up there in four days last year.  I think one of the Randys said they were going up to Desolation Sound this summer too.  July and August are probably the two most popular months up there because of the weather.  I would say the odds are pretty good for a summer raft up.

I wondered about that dock at James Island in the winter time.  I've seen the state take out other floats in the winter time as well, but it's kind of hit and miss.  I think the last time we were there it was the end of October and the float was still there, so I was going to keep my fingers crossed that they left it in this winter.  I guess I better take the dinghy just in case so the dog won't have to keep his legs crossed all weekend.
