On my 86, I believe I have a 120 Volt system only. (not really sure). Is it possible to heat the hot water tank off of the engin? We are planning to go crusing and this would be great. I was crawlling around the heater yesterday, but I am not sure if any of the mass of water lines interfaced with the cooling system...

Thanks

I think the engine providing hot water is pretty standard plumbing on the C34, although I am no expert in this area. If so, you should see two black 3/4 hoses running forward from the engine compartment under the floor and then connectng to the hot water heater under the galley sink if it is hooked up. If so, you should have hot water after a few minutes of running the engine.

Mike's right about the plumbing, but it does take awhile to get warm water, even when running at cruising speed.

If the engine is only running at idle, say at anchor, it'll take forever, because the engine isn't under load and the engine won't heat up enough to make hot enough water.  There's been lots written about this.

Try this find on hot water, and go from there:

I also think by now you've got Calder's book, and there's a good explanation of how the system works in there.
