Exhaust System
« on: January 26, 2023, 10:12:45 AM »

Gents,

Is ther any routine maintance required for the wet exhaust system? Some of my clamps rusted away and I had a leak, which i fixed. That got me thinking.

Do you need to clean that system out every once in a while, or anything?

Replace the zincs in the heat exchanger as required.  Inspect all components as required.

I also replaced the exhaust riser when the flange connection to exhaust manifold was rusting out.  Didn't want the riser to blow in some remote location.

MQ : If you still have the black wire reinforced STIFF hose between the exhaust rise and the inlet to the muffler - CHANGE it - to the blue softer Hump hose.  You'll extend the life of the fiberglass muffler inlet and keep it from leaking!!

Also check to see if the hose from the vented loop to the small nipple on the riser is still the stiff wire reinforced hose - CHANGE it - to a softer nylon hose.  That stiff hose transmits all the engine vibs to that weld in the nipple which eventually breaks & leaks !!
