windlass
« on: March 19, 2021, 08:10:51 PM »

I have a 1993 34 with a windless that has a drum for a rope rode, but my rode is rope and chain. it works fine with the rope but when it gets to the chain its tough because the chain slips om the drum unless you really pull. I was thinking of getting a maxwell that handles both. when I looked at them it seems like I'd have to do a lot of modifications any experience with this.

Nope, it shouldn’t be “much” work to replace it with a Maxwell VW10-8. There is plenty of discussion here on the forum if you search “Maxwell v10”. As a matter of fact, I just ordered one TODAy, on sale from Defender. The rub is they are backordered everywhere due to Covid supply chain issues. I don’t expect mine until end of May.
