Regarding our discussion on the use of small portable gas powered generators, CO is technically lighter than air, but barely so.  According to Dr. David Penny of Wayne State, an expert on CO, the molecular wt. of CO is 28; air averages about 29.  Therefore CO is only slightly less dense than air and this is why it dissipates so slowly. It can kill you even after the source is turned off.

Be careful,

Thanks for the research. That will come in handy when we go to get our portable gen.

This may be a stupid question but does a propane run generator still omit CO?

The only stupid question is the one not asked.  The answer is YES!
