Harken MKIV furler install
« on: October 12, 2020, 07:36:53 PM »

Decided to upgrade from the hood seafurl 915 to a Harken MKIV unit 1. Iím not a fan of the continuous line furlers.

Mast came down a week ago and Iím in the process of essentially replacing everything on it, lights, vhf antenna and all the wiring.

I started by asking the ďProsĒ about what furler size I need and got nothing but a headache, Iíll trust my ability in reading a manual more than their so called ď20+ experienceĒ.

New forestay being ordered tomorrow and then time permitting will be putting together the new furler in a week or two.

We just replaced our old furler with the Harken MKIV unit 1 this summer.  Install was painless.  Works great!

Logo : With the mast down you just might want to install a Hinkley TV antenna? (no power needed)!!  Look at my Mainsheet tech note article (on the same topic).

I also added an "A" "B" switch so I could also get FM stereo radio when not watching TV!!

A few thoughts

Whatís a TV antenna? FM radio? Lol
Kidding. I donít listen to fm, and nothing but bad news on tv. Spotify and Netflix for me!
I did add a 4G wifi hotspot thatís linked to my cell provider which shares my data plan with my cell phone.
