Our Galley florescent light crapped out. Anyone know where to get a similar replacement?

We sail an 87 C34, Kesätalo out of Mystic CT.

Have you tried replacing the bulb?  My light in the head died.  I found a replacement bulb at the local ACE hardware.  A couple of bucks later it was good as new.

And if replacing the bulb doesn't do it, it's probably the ballast unit that has finally given out - I'd just buy a whole new light fixture.

If you have them in your area, you might try Home Depot.  About 6 months ago they were carrying a couple different types of DC flourescents with wiring that could be applied to a C34 - in the lighting department.

The similar fluorescent light in the head had failed on Seventh Heaven, so I went and bought a new tube at West Marine. They come in packs of two.  But it wasn't the tube, and the light was getting its 12V.  So as we were heading out for our first weekend aboard I bought a single tube, 14.25 inch long replacement light from WM.  Installed it, and everything's fine.  And I now have three spare tubes!  Item is 386526 for $45.

I know this is an old thread, but for what it's worth, J.C. Whitney has an assortment of 12 V Flouresent lights.  Just ordered and installed four fixtures with double tubes at a fraction of the cost of "Thinlights".  ($16/fixture compared to $50/fixture)  As an added bonus, they use the same bulbs as the lights in the head and galley.
