Main Message Board / Re: fuel cap Stainless

i bought plastic catalina caps a couple of years ago. they are ugly. as the sun hits them the garish colors begin to fade and then become really ugly. the upside is that you don't have to worry about anyone stealing them.

i agree with steve. before i bought my boat i went back and read 2 years of the message board.i felt it would alert me to any intrinsic problems. i saw only common nonsubstantial items and that reinforced my decision to buy.

Main Message Board / Re: leak at drain

there are two stancions, one on each side of the drain, but the leak is directly beneath the drain. i guess i need to take a water hose and some kids clay and systematically eliminate sources.

i am getting some water into the head when it rains. by opening the cabinet in the head the location is easily located. it appears to come from the exterior drain on the port side. i put silicon on the recessed drain where there are some hairline cracks in the gelcoat. still leaks. i think the problem is the finger size hole leading from the deck to the boat exterior. has anyone had to repair such a problem.

craig, your post indicated that you burned out your glow plugs because of use while shore power is engaged. when i first start my motor at the slip the shore power is almost always plugged in. is this an error on my part. i have had no problems. is this just dumb luck. joe

joe, i have done as you are suggesting and of course have some ideas about what is right for different conditions. but, as you know, where we sail the wind is variable due to the wind swirling around the hills and the islands and we rarely get enough time under set conditions to get good input. when i took trips in the carribean, we set a course and the wind would be steady for several hours and out of the same direction and you could adjust sail trim nicely. tx for the advice.

i would be interested in some input on getting the best performance form the jib at different points of sail in relation to movement of the genoa cars forward or aft on the rails and when to use the outer rail rather than the inner one. some of you who have raced should have some good imfo to share. tx. joe

is there more to this products name than just "PS". tx

it would seem to me that if you enclosed your monitor in the battery compartment the alarm would go off pretty quickly if that were the problem

the woman who orders me around has sirius radio for her car and wants me to install it on the boat. for any of you who have run this gauntlet, what did you find to be the easiest to accomplish it.

Main Message Board / Re: New Rigid Vang Arrived Today!
February 20, 2008, 06:44:40 AM
a friend and i put a rigid vang on his c-30 and then later put one on my c-34. we found that placing the plate on the boom was much easier if you removed the boom so you didn't have to lay on your back while you did the work.
