It's unclear from your description if you charged them or not before you put them in and used them.

Did you?

No yelling from me... ;)

Just got back from an overnight and race today, will try searching (again) tomorrow (Sunday).

I also think a basic look at West Marine's Advisors on caulks would help, because if we, together can't find it here, then we may just as well start from scratch.

Works great.

Not a full shutoff, as some have noted, but a sure water saver.  Turns off 94.4% (engineer-speak!!!).

Recommend checking the lineup of the faucet head before tightening the parts:  may need some extra thread tape to have them lined up and tight.

Great addition, like microwaves, wonder why I put it off.

Any ideas on how and where to mount the assembly on one of the walls to use as a shower?

This is a picture of the shutoff valve, part # 28 035 000 "Shut off for shower heads".  Just got one for $20 list

Most any marine store would have them.  The ones that came with your boat (???hull # and year???) may not be made anymore, but were most likely Seaward.  Johnson, Schaefer, Harken and others make a wide variety of fittings.  Some are easier to install than other, and some run the lines outside the lifeline stanchions to give you more room on deck.

PS

Please register for the message board, or at least give us your hull # and year.  Please see:

My mistake about Fleet 1 - you're on the east coast with hull #1078, right?  Well, you could join us...:)

Congratulations.  Nice boat.  Suggest you also join Fleet 1.

Call Catalina Yachts:  818-884-7700 ask for Robert in parts.  They should have them.

We had the same problem recently and knew that the bulbs were fine.

Check the fuse.

I did, the fuse was fine, but the tips just needed a bit of cleaning.  I must have replaced the fuse last time with dirty fingers.

Quick and easy (no going up the mast) fix.

Just for starters.

Whenever something like this happens, do what everyone here says, but list everything that could be wrong and do the checks in the easiest order first.

Mike's right about the plumbing, but it does take awhile to get warm water, even when running at cruising speed.

If the engine is only running at idle, say at anchor, it'll take forever, because the engine isn't under load and the engine won't heat up enough to make hot enough water.  There's been lots written about this.

Try this find on hot water, and go from there:

I also think by now you've got Calder's book, and there's a good explanation of how the system works in there.

Shower Pump Noise

Terry

It's a diaphragm pump, not a normal impeller pump.  It's like your manual bilge pump with a motor attached to the handle.

This type of pump can work without a prime, so it can suck the "cr-p" out of the sump which is below it's level.

Our pump is really noisy, too, but it's only on for short bursts.

Doesn't sound like a problem.

Here's a very good summary of heaters.

We have a Force 10 bulkhead mounted kerosene unit.  I hate it, it doesn't work, it doesn't heat and makes a mess.  Just my two cents (I do know how to make it work, it just doesn't heat worth a darn.).

Our trawler lamp makes more and nicer heat.

This deserves a new thread, which I'll start.

Also try this for starters:

I'm going to look at the Tech Notes that Ron suggested and hope to get a more specific answer for you, but we both should check the Tech Notes.
