I've been nursing a crappy hit and miss dinghy outboard for a few years...  My son bought me a new 5hp Honda.
He's taken some of the adventure out of making it to shore.

Main Message Board / File size too large
March 30, 2017, 04:32:16 PM
There have been many occasions that I have attempted to contribute a pic that I thought might help out a fellow C34eerrer only to be told ....naa you can't do that.  I'm lazy so I give up easy.
I was under the impression that storage space has gotten dirt cheap.  Any chance this changes?

Could somebody help,  I need the Lewmar model #for the two sets of winches on my boat.  I disassembled them at the end of the season, jotted down a few replacement parts I needed but forgot to get the model #'s.  I want to order the parts so I have them when I make the trip down.

Main Message Board / Air lock
August 27, 2016, 12:47:03 PM
I had to change my water heater and I'm having trouble clearing the air from the line.  I've drained the coolant more than a few times over the years but I've never had this much difficulty.  I'm thinking I have to disconnect the hoses at the engine that go to the WH ? but then what?

Any suggestions on where to get a refill exchange around Baltimore.  Short of that could someone point out the link to the homemade thingamagig for refilling?  Having trouble with the search.

Adapter, that's the word I was looking for.

Main Message Board / transmission fluid?
June 09, 2016, 10:13:46 AM
25xp engine.
How much ATF fluid goes in our transmission.
I just drain my fluid and would like to refill with the right amount and compare it to the amount that came out.

Please

Edit:  Why didn't you check the level on the dipstick first, you ask?   Because I'm a big Dummy.

Main Message Board / lifelines
May 25, 2016, 08:13:32 AM
My vinyl coated lifelines look like merda.  Cracked, sun burnt brown, there's no salvaging them.  Is there any reason to not just strip the vinyl off and use them as bare stainless?

Main Message Board / Battery longevity
May 24, 2016, 08:38:43 AM
My four house bank (generic  6v Sam's Club) batteries are dated 5/08 and seem to be holding a charge.  We are scheduled to relaunch next week and begin a cruise.  The batteries performed well last year but I'm beginning to wonder if 8 yrs is pushing things.  I'm leaning towards replacement because I don't want problems on the water but I would like to get a feel for how many years other folks get before I toss them.

Just curious,  does anyone know when the first 34 was born?

Seems to me we should be getting close to a thirtieth birthday?

Main Message Board / posting pics
September 06, 2013, 05:15:24 PM
I'm starting over with a new operating system and am having trouble posting pics from a new camera.
It would help me a bunch if someone could tell me what the size requirements are for pics?

I keep getting complaints that its too big (imagine that).

Main Message Board / Broke thru hull fitting
May 23, 2013, 10:31:44 PM
Just a heads up.
I happened to look inside my anchor locker thru hull fitting when I was walking around outside the boat before launch.
There was a substantial crack that ran from 2 to 10 on the clock.
When I tried to remove it for replacement it simply crumbled in my hands.

The plastic had turned to oatmeal.

Main Message Board / I love my kids
June 07, 2012, 03:33:32 PM
A few weeks ago they removed a tumor from my brain in an operation that lasted about 8 hours.
I was resigned to the fact that I would not be able to launch the 34 this year.

Today my son called and said he the bottom sanded and had started on the teak.

He said he wants to go sailing with me.

Main Message Board / Oberdorfer pump imp
May 17, 2011, 11:46:09 AM
I did the obligatory search and found that DEPCO is the place to shop for the impellor that I need for my 25xp oberdorfer pump but cannot find any reference to a model or parts #.
Anyone who has ordered, could you help me out?

The  insulation around the engine is turning to dust, so I quess it's time to replace it.
WM has some 1" stuff for $160 (seems expensive) which will probably work.
Has anyone used this stuff and is the 32" x  54" they give you enough to do the job?
Any alternatives?

A gorgeous machine. Made in Italy, Really holds an edge.  Very smooth and tight with absolutely no wiggle when open.  The whole thing can be disassembled and cleaned. Best boat knife I have ever owned.
A bit pricey but really worth it.

Main Message Board / Replacing halyards
June 11, 2009, 07:39:43 AM
I need to replace my main and jib halyards and I don't have a clue as to what I should buy.
We use the 34 for cruising the Chesapeake and don't do any racing.
Any help and recommendations as to which type I should get would be appreciated.
