Main Message Board / Where's #1
October 14, 2006, 05:53:05 PM
Well, according to the database, Tom Madden has #3...so, where's #1? And for that matter, where's #2? Just a question as to the roots we all belong to...  :?

Thanks Ron...I've been keeping those things in mind. It appears the DBs are equivalent (slightly less) than the Honda 2000. I would like a generator capable of powering the air conditioner...don't think I would use it for that often...but some nights would be nice with the air on while on the hook. The Yamaha is slightly larger than the Honda and weighs twice as much...that could be the killer. But, if anyone has one of these, I'd like to know where they stow it and if if can power the air conditioner. I'm going to get the specs on my air conditioner this weekend to see if the Yamaha could work. Additional thoughts/ideas welcomed.

Has anyone tried the Yamaha EF2400iS Inverter Generator? They advertise it is powerful enough to start most 13,500 BTU air conditioners.

Dan---Thanks for the link to your logs. I'm reading through them. Seems like you had an adventure. I'm doing research now so I can do something similar in the future...know I'm going to do it...just have to figure out the timing with the job and all.

Was searching for info on the ICW and came across your message. Thought I would followup. How was your trip? Anything you would like to share with the rest of us? Hope all went well.

Main Message Board / Re: Does anyone recognize thic clip

Mike--My clip broke last season and I had trouble finding a replacement, or anything that would fit, from local shops (including Home Depot, marine chandleries, etc.). I called Edson and they sent me 2 clips at no charge.

Bill---I've had my ST4000 for almost 3 seasons now and I am satisfied. Usually the only problem I have is with following seas...seems "Ray" gets confused when following seas get over 2'. There are still a few more adjustments I plan to make to see if those correct the problem.

My foam filer around the air cleaner has disintegrated...anyone know where in the Chesapeake area (Annapolis, Deale, Alexandria, etc) where I can get another? I think (but am not sure) the Universal # is 301049 (Foam Filter only?).

I do have minor shaft movement in my cutlass bearing. When I bought her, the surveyor recommended a new cutlass at the next haul out...which I haven't done yet. However, this looks like the year to do it. My 34 does have the set screws...so, my question is: what's it take to get the bearing out and what difficulties can I expect getting the new one in?

Main Message Board / Winter Cover
December 06, 2005, 03:22:59 PM
I'm considering buying a wiinter cover instead of wrapping the boat every winter. Has anyone used, and can recommend, a local manufacturer (local to Deale, MD; Annapolis, MD, or Alexandria, VA) who makes winter covers for sailboats? Does anyone have a recommended material (sunbrella, oddessy, etc.)? Estimated costs? Ease of install? Thanks. ---RAB

What Ron meant to type was Tech Notes for May 1998. Thanks for the reference Ron...I need to secure mine as well...this winter's project...and was wondering how I was going to do it.

Main Message Board / Trojans 105
August 25, 2005, 08:15:37 PM
I installed 4 T105's this year in my 1998 (#1414). I had to enlarge the stock battery boxes by about 1" each...just cut them in half and fiberglassed in a spacer. So far so good...they crank the engine with no problem and power my electronics with no problems. I also installed a new TruCharge system...the old charger cooked my batteries then cooked itself. Overall, I'm very happy with the new systems.

Main Message Board / Replacing batteries
August 17, 2005, 06:10:29 PM
My 27's died on me...after much research, I chose to go with 4 Trojan 105s (6 volt golf cart batteries...2 each wired in a series). I also replaced the stock battery charger (which cooked the batteries to start with) with a TrueCharge 20. To install the Trojans, I had to expand the stock battery boxes by about 1" each...just cut them in half and fiberglassed in a spacer. So far so good.
