Fleet 1 / Tall Rig / Winged Keel in S.F. Bay
August 28, 2005, 10:35:08 AM
I am a Fleet 1 member with my 1992 Cat 34 on Lake Erie

I am thinking of moving my Cat 34 to S.F. Bay.  My question is: "Are there other TR/WK in San Francisco Bay?"

I am thinking primarily of cruising and am wondering how the TR/WK would perform in S.F. Bay.

Hauling costs would be more than the sales tax on a different boat if I would purchase in S.F.   On the other hand I know the boat well and it is a 13 year old fresh water boat.

Any thoughts :?:

Main Message Board / Water leak in aft cabin
June 15, 2001, 01:25:59 PM
I have a bad water leak running down the port side of the aft bulkhead in the aft cabin.

I think I have seen the topic before, but cannot find it in the FAQ's or Tech Notes.  (my computer skills are limited).

Does anyone know if there is a source that is more likely than others for this leak?  Best way to fix?

Main Message Board / Diesel Fuel in the Bilge
May 04, 2001, 06:34:18 AM
Uncovering the boat this week, I find that all the diesel fuel from the tank (it was full)is now in the bilge.  Since the tank is now empty and since it obviously has had some time to evaporate it's trail, I am unable to locate how it came out of the tank.  Since there was no diesel in the pan under the engine, the problem apparently was not in the fuel filter on the engine.  Uncovering the tank it does not appear to be coming from the tank itself or any of the fittings attached thereto.  The only suspect is the white filter between the tank and the engine (accessed thru the head access panel)  Yet there is not any fuel leaking out at this time and hull beneath the filter does not appear to be overly covered with oil - - - although it may have dried up.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Main Message Board / Mainsail Track System
April 28, 2001, 06:42:18 AM
Because of sailing single-handed or with inexperienced crew, I am looking for a system to make hoisting and reefing the mainsail easier.

I have a tall rig #1205 (1992)

I understand that the newer boats have a track system as part of their standard equipment.  I have hear of a "Dutchman B40-2 system, and although they are sending me the catalog, I have no other information

Does anyone have an opinion as to the best system, price and installation is a consideration
