Hello everyone,
Here is a link that will surely interest some C34 sailors:

It is about the 7-year voyage of the Catalina 34 MK1.5 "FINDUS" of a German crew (a married couple).
They sailed from Flensburg/Germany via the Baltic Sea, North Sea, English Channel, Biscay, Atlantic (Canary Islands and Cape Verde) to the Caribbean, then via the Panama Canal to the Pacific and crossed it vie the south pacific islands to New Zealand and then to Australia.

Then, after 7 years on board, the Corona problems stopped her voyage.
Unfortunately, the page is no longer updated.

https://www.syfindus.de/?page_id=9

it's a bit tedious to read the diary in the archive (its in german, but whit google translator it es possible to read for not german speaking but interesting men) because you have to read it "back to front".

Main Message Board / Aft cabin bolts Access
July 12, 2022, 12:00:16 AM
... I need access to the 3 rear starboard bolts/nuts of the rail on the outside of the ledge. these are probably behind the closet in the aft cabin. Can I somehow remove the closet to access the hull/deck from the inside?

Main Message Board / need info help about toilet
April 04, 2022, 12:26:59 PM
can someone explain the hoses of the Toplette to me?

Picture WC1: the water comes from the left via a seacock under the sink next to the coolant inlet seacock. The seacock is also the waste water from the shower drain.

bottom right is the waste water through the wall to the seacock (can be switched to the holding tank, which I don't use) see also picture WC2.
The sea water goes into the pump at the top right.
Now a seawater hose goes from the pump into the hole behind in the wall and comes out again and goes to the toilet bowl. What is that hose doing behind the wall, why? And how do I get there?

When I have the seacocks of the toilet (inlet and outlet) open, some water flows up out of the drain hole in the shower floor and little by little there is too much water in the toilet bowl.

Can someone explain to me what is wrong and what I should change?

One more question: It's an old Jabsco toilet. I am considering buying a new model from Jansco. Will the mounting holes fit again so that I can simply swap out the toilet 1:1? (possibly with a modified hose routing?)

EDIT: I can not connect the pictures with the post, biu I hope, i have explained the problem

Main Message Board / C34 CE certification questiom
February 25, 2022, 02:41:15 PM
Hello
here in europe there is a ce certification for everything. also for boats sold in the EU. it is, so to speak, an EU declaration of conformity.
After 1995 (this CE has existed since then), Catalina also sold the C34 to Europe.
Now my question: is there a C34 owner who has this CE certification document and can send me a copy of it as a pdf?

Main Message Board / steps in the Boat
February 08, 2022, 01:09:23 AM
Hi togheter,
The steps have these grooves. I find it really hard to keep them reasonably clean all the time. I can remember seeing pictures somewhere on the internet where these grooves were cast (?) with something. Does anyone have an idea how to do that? you could then, for example, coat the smooth surface with something non-slip material.

Main Message Board / need idea for a Fix 2. forestay
January 18, 2022, 07:37:52 AM
Hello together,

I need a solution for attaching a 2nd forestay (removable) to the deck, so how can I statically attach an eye that absorbs the forces of the stage.

(the Stay ist for a small cruising/heavy weather Jib, not furler)

Has anyone done this or have an idea how-what-where?

I am currently trying to find out the tank contents of my ship in liters. According to google there are different gallons. Does anyone know what is correct, what Catalina describes? 3.8L-1Gal, right?

Main Message Board / Question about a boat arch
August 04, 2021, 11:12:00 PM
... Ihave a question about a part that I don't know what to call in English.
In German you say "Geräteträger" .
It is this stainless steel bracket at the back above the cockpit on which solar panels, antennas, wind generators and other things are attached.
does any of you have something like that on the C34, can you say something about the attachment and maybe also have pictures of it?

Main Message Board / Seacocks
July 22, 2021, 10:40:17 AM
Hello, My runaway is currently on the dry (but 1000miles far from me). I read that the material the seavalves/seacocks are made of is MARELON. Here they say that Marelon is almost indestructible. How do you do that with your "older" boats? Do you use such an opportunity to swap them or do you think that if everything looks good, it will still be okay?

Hi togheter,
I need a Bowden cable from the gear lever to the engine (forward-neutral-back).
I am not sure which part I have to order from Catalina Direkt in order to send it to me in Europe. Can someone possibly give me a note or link so I can order the correct one.

Thanks and Greetings

Hello, I am a new C34 owner from Germany. My boat is a MK1.5 WK from 1992 with the build number 1219. The boat is called Runaway, the home port is Würzburg (boat is now on the Mediterranean Sea). I still have some work to do with it and plan to be on board and cruising around the Med, maybe the Atlantic for most of the year later (the Plan is not to have a plan 😉 ).

Nice that I found this forum, because I will probably ask a few questions from time to time.

My English is not perfect, I use google translator to translate everything here. Sometimes funny things come out of them, so that I have to think about what is meant for a long time 😊. So don't be surprised if I have a question (in English) that might sound a bit strange.
