I have a 34 tall rig, can anyone tell me the recommended length for a whisker pole.

Thanks

Hi, Paul here, my wife and I have a '89 C 34.  We'd like to replace our sink.  If you have the time, can you tell us how you got your sink out.  Was it glued down?

Thank in advance,  P&J

Do you still have the bimini?  I have a '89 C34.  I keep at Erie, PA
If you live in Cleveland I could come by and pick it up.
Also, would you take $400 for it?

Stay Safe,

Paul

That's not my actual engine.  But I do see what you are seeing, the belt looks to be upside down.  Good eye.

Thank you all for your help.  I made the modification.  No more smoke and oil mist coming into the engine compartment.
I'm sure that I am getting excessive blow by, rings, but for now I will get through the season.

Cheers for now,

Paul

Wow, that's a great solution.  I will be getting right on it in a few days.

Thank you very much.

Stay safe and have a great sailing summer, well as best as you can right now.

Main Message Board / Universal M25 diesel problems
July 03, 2020, 06:47:35 PM
Hi All,

I have an '89 Catalina 34 with a Universal M 25 diesel.  On the top of the engine next to the coolant tank is what appears to be a crankcase vent.  Currently when the engine is running there is an oily vaper coming out of it.  The vent has threads, maybe 1/2 inch JIC.

My questions are, is the discharge normal if so is there supposed to be a vent hose attached and if so where does it got to?  Also, when I put my finger over it, pressure builds up.

Can anyone give me some advice.

Thanks,  Paul

Main Message Board / Spreaders

I need to replace my spreader boots on my 34 Catalina.  Does anyone know the width of the spreaders at their ends where the boots go?  I only want to make one trip up the mast instead of two.  Up to measure, then up again to install.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, to all those who responded to my Raymarine Auto pilot (ST4000+) problem and thank you.  I was recently out sailing with it and still unable to use the Auto Pilot.  Here's what I tried.  Rotated 360 to get the display to change.  It did but, just gave random numbers.  When I engaged the helm drive the autopilot would not hold course.  No matter what direction I tried.

In the manual it describes how to check the ohms on the wires to the control head.  4 ohms and 8 ohms depending on which two wires were touched.  All the readings I got were just a closed circuit. 0 ohms.  So, I am at a loss now as to what to do next.  Send the whole unit to Raymarine to be checked out?

The Fluxgate compass is located in a suggested location and there isn't any metal near it.  I believe the previous owner of my boat was having some problems since I found some paper work suggesting various solutions to the Autohelm not working.  I might give him a call.

Cheers everyone,

Paul

Hi All,

Does anyone out there have any experience in trouble shooting Raymarine autohelms?  Mine is stuck on the same heading, 348 to 352, no matter what direction I'm heading, east west south etc.

Any idea what to do or replace?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Hi All,

I am new to this group.  Having just bought a '89 Catalina on Lake Erie.  I have noticed the fleets listed.  Every where but Lake Erie.  Just wondering, is there any other Catalina owners out there on Lake Erie?  Near Erie, PA. by any chance?  Say, ''Hello'' here or email me at frogdoc58@hotmail.com

All the Best,
