Stu Not sure of your question, my adj rod only attaches to the two bolt holes that the original does. the ear on the alt and the bolt where the slot was.

Winter has it's good points. Have time to try to improve the boat without cutting into sailing time. One of the small projects for me was the alternator bracket. Although you can tighten the belt it is not the most convenient job to do.Searching the site came up with many ways and tools, all that can get the job done. My spin on it follows. Wanted to get rid of the sharp edge of the factory bracket and allow adjustment without special tools. This simple rod and two nuts allow me to adjust and lock in place the alternator with only a 9/16" wrench. works good on the bench but this weekend will mount on the boat and try :?

Phil I'm down the road at Sandusky Harbor. Where do you store for winter?
Perhaps we can mass produce a repair.  Not sure what direction to take with the repair,
was thinking the same as you, metal, but not sure you could get it in without cutting the floor.
When I talked to Gerry he mentioned laminating it in place with smaller pieces that may be doable.

The crack where water was getting in. This picture was from when we were looking at the boat to buy. Had been sitting for three years. removed a section of fiberglass to find soaked and rotted wood :cry4`. Will take more pictures as I progress. First thought is how to remove all the glass covering the wood, Thinking a Multi tool may work here. Has anyone used a multi tool for fiberglass and how did it fair?

OK pulled the keel stepped mast off the boat for the winter and was going to dry the bilge for the winter to repair the tabbing on the mast step/stringer. Found the PO had done some repairs to the stringer and the wood was sooked / rotted. Searched the site and found mention of the problem but found no info on the repair. Wondering has anyone else done this repair and how did you go about it?

Thanks
Just sanded the white off.
The panel was black under the washed out silver.
That's a reflection by the fuel gauge. Could have used finer sand paper. Sprayed with clear.
Put a new plexiglass cover over panel and it came out great.

Repaired my panel and replaced all gauges and switches on my boat. Have a 1987 and the panel was washed out. Thought about replacing or making a new one but decided to try and refinish the old one. Removed all the old stuff and sanded the front to remove all the silver. Painted the front with white paint. Sanded the front to remove the white leaving it in the groves that Catalina used to print on the front. Added a bit of blue and red on the logo and sprayed the whole thing with clear to lock it in. Neighbors on the dock love the way it came out.

VDO 226-630    believe this is the one 12"
But measure your tank height. You could use a shorter one and have more reserve.

Replaced the dash gauges on the boat while putting new wiring harness in.
The old panel was beat, washed out. Could not see spending the money for a new panel
so cleaned mine up and painted it off white. Then sanded it leaving just the lines and writing white.
Put a little color on the Catalina logo and installed new gauges.
Gauges were about 75.00 with reed switch sending unit.

Thought i would update the repair.
Removed and rewelded support, no problems there.
Countersunk holes and bedded with Butyl Tape.
Replaced bolts with button head allen bolts, as I hate phillips for stainless.

Well, just so the next person does not have go through guessing. Drilled and installed an access port on the rear wall of the rear hanging locker this will help with installing the water hose but not the stern rail bolts. But was able to see that a hole in the top of the locker towards the rear was spot on. Nuts are right there. 😀 :clap

Well any landing you walk away from is a good landing, but it helps if you're at the right airport.
Ok spent the weekend on the boat with the wife WE LOVE IT.
Thank you to all who contribute to this Forum and tech wiki, don't know how to say how much work
