I'll take it off your hands. I just had my boat surveyed pre sale. Buyer backed out, but they did find leaky injection point in riser. Added my bid. What are you hoping to get for it?

Yes, I was being general im order to get varied responses. I shift from cockpit. It has been foing this for about a season. It was not gradual, it just got really hard one day. I tried to shift at engine, but it Did not seem as difficult. Perhaps it's the cable.

What are some of the reasons my transmission would be very hard to shift Forward and Reverse?

While my mast is down, I’m thinking about sprucing up the appearance of my unpainted, un-anodized mast because its looking tired.

I'm 99% sure your aluminum mast is Anodized.  Un-anodized aluminum does not last long in the marine environment.  That said, my mast is painted and I wish it wasn't.  It need a bit of help that I have no desire to give it.

A good rule of thumb is to determine your max RPM and cruise at 80%. So Floor It, then back off 20%.

The yard finally pulled my engine/shaft/etc.

Just curious why you pulled your engine?  Are you repowering? Rebuilding?

I like the fact that it only had one owner, I think that is a huge plus on an older boat. It only take one PO to mess one up.

I think I had that PO.  :cry4`

Just an FYI... the 1989 Wave Grip service manual link gives the 1982 manual.

I ordered 3M VHB #4991 (0.5") from amazon.

I just replaced one of mine last fall.  Used VHB tape with 795 around edge.  My glass shop would not bevel the edge like the original, but I think that actually helped to get more 795 in the gap.  No screws. i had the port side window made too, but will save that for another day (it's cracked but not leaking).

Just redid mine.

Probably not what you what to hear, but might save you some time and agrivation. I tried for over a week with oils, heat, BFH's and had no luck.  I ended up cutting coupler off of shaft with angle grinder.  Ordered new coupler and was done.  Good Luck.

Unless you really love that boat you might want think about selling it and buying a San Diego boat. By the time you get your boat in the water in San Diego you will probably spend 12K, that's about a third of the total value of the boat. With that kind of money you could significantly reduce the price of your boat to move it quickly and still come out ahead.

Gunner, It's a bit late now. LOL - I did consider selling, but with 10K in upgrades (new rigging, new sail, etc), I would not make out as well as hoped.  Especially buying more expensive boat out here and probably needing the same 10K upgrades.
