Main Message Board / engine mounts

Folvio,

I defer to your prerogative to purchase the K75 mounts from Ron. I did not mean to jump into your thread but could not resist the urge after looking at Ron's offer posted for a day with no response.

Ron,

I'll take those mounts off your hands.

Jeff,

The engine will only heat the hot water heater to 160 degrees after about an half hour of working under load. The 25XP has a 160 thermostat. I don't think I could get my engine to 160 in neutral at the dock.

 Regards!

Main Message Board / Fuel removal

Jerry,

I did as suggested; ran the tank down to what I thought was a quarter of a tank. I than disconnected the return line to the tank and put it in a 5gal. container and used the fuel pump to empty the tank. There was approximately half a gallon of fuel left in the tank after removing all the pump would lift.
I never had a problem with clogged filters. The clean out was strictly preventative.

Richard,

If you have not completed this project yet, here are a few notes:

The round beast will come out of the side door opening once the door is removed along with the frame. I also had to remove the drawer and frame above the heater in order to twist turn and position the old and new heater.
I chose the 6gal Seward front fittings which face the door when installed. This was a heck of a lot cheaper than a round Raritan replacement. I had to epoxy in a block of wood for the Seward heater front mount which was beyond the factory round wood mount for the old heater. Replace all the old hoses while you are at it.
Sorry about this delayed response, too many toys, not enough time.

John,

I have the three blade 15 x 10 pitch. The only distributer that I am aware of is in Marblehead, Mass.

You could be right about your engine requiring a different pitch. The person you want to talk with is Chuck Angle of Flex-O-Fold(787-631-3190). Tell him you are a member of the C34IA and ask for the "show price". It's worth a try, mabe you can save a few bucks.

   Good Luck

Gerry,

If you do a search on this board for propellers you will get a whole lot of information on different props. I recently purchased a Flex-o-Fold after doing the kind of research that you are beginning. I am very pleased with the performance picking up a knot of motoring speed. Sailing differential is supposed to be at least half a knot better. Backing power seems to be equivalent to the fixed three blade I replaced. Cost was about 1300.
Used folding props are like hens teeth. I stumbled across this listing recently that looks pretty good if it is a three blade prop.

The loncoin product is made by Lonseal Flooring. They will only sell to commercial outfits. Mabe West Marine could get it for you or Home Depot.

Lonseal also makes the teak and holly sole vinyl used by Catalina. This stuff is listed in the new Defender catalog. It is listed at $89.99 for 3'x 6'. It is sold by the running yard at 72" wide.

   Regards!

Can anyone tell me if you have to shorten or lengthen the shaft going from a fixed three blade to the three blade Flex-O-Fold?

Steve,

Do you have any insights or recomendations for someone about to tackle this same job? Who cleaned your tank and how was it cleaned?

Did you replace the fuel gauage sending unit?

 Peace,

Steve & Ohana,

What is the K&N filter that fits the 25XP engine? How much does it cost?
Do you notice any more noise running the K&N ?

Hi Captain,

As you know, I purchased a an Air Force Blue Water main last winter. The previous orginal main had stretched so much that the boom would lay on top of the dodger when sheeted down a little.
I followed their directions for measurements without any problem. They actually called me to question one of my measurements which they considered a little out of the "normal" for the C34. I am very pleased with the fit and performance of this sail. The only negative that I can say is that it is built heavier than I need for costal cruising and mostly day sailing. The corner patches are so heavy(stiff) that the sail does not flake easily.
If I had it to do over I would go with a local loft. We have them all in our area. I recommend you consider the dutchman system for the ease of dropping. I hate wrestling with the lazy jacks and straightening out the main.

Gene,

Thanks for putting this great discount together. It goes to show that there is power in numbers.

I will suggesting to Lynn that the furler will make a nice Christmas gift.
