Key on, buzzer sounding.  Hold key clockwise against the spring to power the glow plugs (Unless engine has been recently run and temp is over 100).  Hold key for 20-30 seconds (10-15 if you have a glow plug selenoid). Release spring pressure, push the start button.  Engine should start right up.  Check for water out of exhaust.

Hi,

quick question, since I'm new to diesel engine since this summer, when starting, I'm holding key for about 20 sec. and push the starter button while still holding the key.
Should I release key before ??
And how to check if there is a solenoid ?

thanks

Am I correct in believeing that it isn't the hot water coolant hoses if i don't see the "pink stuff"?

Hi,

I'm not an expert, but when you are referring to the Pink Stuff, that should be ''Plumbing anti-freeze''.  The stuff you put in the plumbing for winter.
Engine coolant should be more like a green color.

Jim : There are a couple of items on the earlier boats (1986/87) that I would change:

The only real electrical wiring problem that I and some others have had is DC - with the cabin lighting.  The solution is to get rid of the damn plastic blue connectors that the factory used for the ground connections.

:?   Yes me too.  The whole starboard side cabin lights don't work....
Another task to get done.

I tried to message you but don't think I did it right.

Just wondering, Did you get your boat from Coney's Marine on Long Island?

Hi,

Fortunately the PO was kind enough to fix the wood to the boat, and the unit is screwed on the wood   :D

And as for the over cable length, I just got the boat not that long ago... and since the unit work ok, I'll leave it as it is for now    8)

you simply need to tighten the friction screw inside the binnacle underneath the compass.

Hi,
In my case, the speed lever don't stay in place when I put it over around 1800 rpm.
I have to hold it in place.  And is kind of hard to push past this speed.
Could it be this adjustment under compass you are refering to ?
I was look at engine side, and no adjustment possible there.

Yes, that's it.  You can check it in our C34 Tech Manuals in the wiki, or www.edsonmarine.com

It's a pretty simple thing to adjust.

oK thanks, will look at it.

Hi,
Mine too is located under thé starboard settee by thé mast.
Thé boat was put in water with thé plug in place, I've been too chicken to replace thé log in thé water.
But reading différent poste saying that you take it out and replace it often, i'll try it soon.

Hi,

Good question, would like to know too, cause have to do it.

For the inside one, we brought them home, and rented the steam cleaner that you use to clean carpet and furniture at a rental store.
Used the furniture handle a gave them a good clean, left them outside under a nice sunny day to dry properly.

I'm considering adding Adler/Barbour system to my 1989 34.  I've only seen one other 34 with refridg unit and it was located directly below the oven.  Is this the prime location for the unit to install?

Hi Steve,

I also just bought a 89 C34, and the compressor is located under the oven.
Not shure if it's the place I would have installed it, but I will leave it there for now.

Hi,
Actually your right, compost is done with No.2 only.
No.1 goes in a separate holding tank.  And this one not being very big, can be brought to the marina and emptied in a toilet.
