We have had a 2000 for 6 years and it is great. We have a 2000 MKII so it fits in the port locker no problem. No matter what you do make sure you can secure it so it will not grow feet. I am looking at having a stand build out of SS to install in front of the mast to put it on when at anchor. It will have rubber bushings to damper the vibration. They are very quiet so not worried about noise. Will lock it to the stand and mast.

We have been looking at it as well.  A little pricy but worth the extra to be self contained.

We have dodger and have no issues tying up the sail. We have a Dutchman system so dropping the sail is
easy. I the add two sail ties. I do have the front window out of the way.

The SS rails on the dodger are a necessity for safety. As someone else said you will use the ever time you leave the cockpit.

two main items we want on everyboat are dodger and Bimini. It only took 1 trip to Catalina for 17 hours in the sun and we added to the 30 and the 34 when we got it. Plus great place to install the solar.

To make it easy try to stay within the same brand.  I have all RayMarine  electronics including the 9" E9 non-touch display.  Nema 2000 is great but still offers challenges. My big complaint on the Raymarine is that the software is not intuitive. All in all the who system works great and we use the IPAD through the wireless as a secondary monitor.

I have a 135 that you can have for price of shipping.

I have a 2000 sail # 1517 with the 4000 + autopilot and it works great. PO had complete set of spares just in case. The flux gate is mounted in port Setee where east tank is. Factory installed. Would not have boat without "Auto" (it's nickname) working.   The trip from San Diego to Catalina is long.

Mike,

Pat & I are flying up for the day on Saturday. We did that a couple of years ago SSD had a blast. A few others from San Diego Catalina Assoc.  Are going to be there as well. Maybe we can get two minutes to at least say hello.

Sue,

We use Boating Suite as the log for maintenance, logbook and expenses.  I use Evernote for reminders and keeping pictures of the boat.  Had not thought of using Evernote for everything. I like having a consistent input for all the records. I export to Excel and can print for a backup record.

All,

I used C&P to build some doors for Hakuna Matata for V-Berth storage mod and the quality was great and so was the service.

Thanks, We did find it was overcharged. Defrosted and rebooted yesterday. Will check tomorrow. If it is still not working we are going to follow the same example and bring in the experts to check it out.

I had a leak in the evaporator in the Adler Barbour unit.  I had the leak repaired and the unit vacuumed and recharged.  It appeared to be all OK.  Now the unit runs constantly (did not do it previously) and there is significant condensation coming off the lines from the compressor.  It is so much it leaks into the bulkhead where the thru-hull for raw seawater is located in measurable amounts.  I am sure some one has seen this before and resolved it.  I do not want to buy another unit.  Better stuff to spend a boat unit on.  I am worried about the unit not shutting off as it used to and the draw on the battery bank.

I had similar issue on my C30.  Went to disconnect the cord and the tines in the outlet pulled out with the cord as they were melting through.  I replaced the outlet, and connector on the cord. I monitor it on the 34 on a regular basis.

Been using the Garhauer kayak racks for two years with the last year on our 2000 C34. They work great. We use it for the 2 person kayak and sometimes add the SUP as well.  I added rubber grommets at the stanchion so I can swivel them in when racing. So far no issues sailing when we go to Catalina.

Jeff,

My experience on the M25XP on our C-30 was blockage in the heat exchanger. I used the reverse flush with Rydelyme described in Mainsheet to clean it and water was shooting out the back.   I was diligent in replacing the impeller as I had a huge disaster when we first bought the boat.  This fixed my issue. Did it once a year and never had an issue again.

I rarely hit my head in the aft cabin.  Nice to see others have similar issues though in other locations.  If I hav a hat on I smack my head all the time and that little metal button hurts James in the top of your head.  Both the admiral and I bang the hatch cover going into the cockpit.
