On my 1990 Mk 1.5 I replaced the tachometer. All good until I knocked a thin blue wire off. I believe it was on the back of the water temperature gauge and was for the overheat/oil pressure audio alarm. I've looked through a bunch of wiring diagrams but can't see where to connect it. Suggestions???

I am looking for a new tachometer for my 1990 Catalina 34 with the M35 engine. Catalina direct says they have distribution problem and none are in stock. Any leads to find one???

I have an m-35 universal diesel. Recently the tach occasionally drops to zero when I go above idle speed. I have metered it and the batteries still seems to be charging even with the tach showing 0 rpms. Suggestions where to check wiring?

I got my Geico/Boat US renewal today for my 1990 wing Kell tall rig. The premium went up 42% AND they decreased the insured value by 16%. Yikes!!!

The plastic stern shower cover on my 1990 Catalina has been epoxied back to life too many times. Any ideas on how/where to get a new one?

I need a new mini rocker switch as a replacement on my master electric panel. Everything I see online that is rectangular is rated for AC. Or it is round for DC. I need it to be 1/2" by 3/4" inch. Any suggestions?   

I have a 1990 Catalina 34. The admiral is no longer satisfied with with small cloth cushions. Any advice on manufacturer, foam, and covering material for new cockpit cushions? Do any cushions drain if they get wet?

[NextStep Regulator]

I have a 1990 Catalina 34 with the Universal M35 diesel. I need a new external voltage regulator, my old one is fried. I had a NextStep Regulator that has an on/off feature built in, temperature sensor to automatically compensate battery voltage;an output to drive a parallel solenoid which connects the house and starter batteries during charge;an input signal to limit the absorption voltage when halogen lights are on;an input signal that holds the regulator at the absorption setpoint .

Any suggestions for a new one? Does anyone use the NextStep 2? This was installed by PO.

[draft stripes]

Can I hear some "informed" opinions about how useful you feel draft stripes on the sails can be? I think that they can be helpful on a long day of sailing for those few extra tenths of a knot, but do you pay too much attention to them on a quick single-handed after work sail? I don't race, except when there's another sailboat beating for that same buoy on the way home :)

I pulled my heat exchanger, wire brushed the corrosion, ordered new end cap gaskets and zincs from Catalina Direct, and am ready to bring it to a radiator shop to have it cleaned out. Any suggestions for the type(s) of paint to use on it? If I prime it with zinc chromate will that be OK with the heat from the hot water inside?

I have a 1990 tall rig. Saved up as it's way past time for new main and 155 furling genoa. I am in City Island in the Bronx. I've narrowed my choics down to Kappa Sails or Doyle. I read many complimentary posts about the Kappa sails but they were from 2007 & 2008. My Doyle experience has been from repair work (the loft is next door to my boatyard). Any suggestions/comments?

I snapped the 3" bolt on the alternator adjusting arm. When I looked online, there is supposed to be a spacer behind the adjusting arm. I can't find it for much less than $50 !!! Does anyone know the size/specs of this spacer?

I threw a bearing in my water pump last week on my 1990 Catalina 34. I have tried everywhere on the internet I can find to get a new one without any luck. Apparently, the factory in Japan has been shut down after the earthquake. Any ideas?
