Thanks Mike. The Rtec system was an inline capsule that treated the water prior to it entering the bowl. It had a small canister that as I understand it, had a solid treatment capsule. I guess that it would be similar to a urinal cake. My wife has been in charge of all odor concerns, and interior appearance (I get mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing).

This is the response that I got from Peggy.

I've never been a fan of inline "head treatments"...they aren't that effective and the chemicals in 'em can interfere with holding tank products.

So I guess that I will just eliminate it from the system.

Thanks Stu. That sounds like a good idea and easier than trying to drill a hole, insert a fitting, caulk and plumb.

Stu - I'm having some trouble finding the post from Ron. The problem that I have is that the drain hose doesn't do a very good job of getting all of the water out. I would like to relocate the drain hole to the lowest point in the box. Perhaps cover it with a shower drain to catch the big chunks.

Regarding associate members. Through my employer, I have been a member of different associations related to my work. We have had associate members of these organizations that were mainly magazine publishers that serve the industry. Perhaps allowing limited advertising and charging an annual fee to potential advertisers would help to defray the cost of the main sheet

I have a small screw in canister for adding treatment to the head. It was manufactured by Rtec of Sausilito, CA. I have tried to find them on line but they appear to out of business. Does anyone know of a replacement, or do I even nedd it.

Thanks, Ed

I was having some issues with water leaking into the aft cabin. I removed the panels and found an extra tank stored next to the aft water tank. I don't know if this is the best place, but it would do.

So how many shots would it take to make you think that it was a fine day for a sail

I narrowed mine down to the Auto helm. I covered it with a plastic bag and taped it off with painters tape. I did this about 3 weeks ago. I haven't had a drop since. Now I have to reprogram the auto helm and apply about 5 pounds of caulk.

I had the same problem. Mine was leaking around the auto helm display. I pulled it out and applied clear caulk. It seems to be ok now.

My wife and I took ours apart this past weekend (5/24/09). I used the halyard to help suport the boom. I used a screwdriver and a hammer to pop out the end attached to the mast as it sounded like that was where it might be bound up. I tapped on either side to help keep it from binding .The line was completly twisted. we pulled the line out and threaded it back in. It works just fine now. I would suggest attaching a leader to it so that you don't have to try to squeeze your hand into the boom. My wife has smaller hands than mine, but she still had some trouble.

mine is jambed too. I'm going to try and take it apart where it is and use the spare halyard to hold it in place.

I just bought some wire shelves at Lowes that have a lip on one side. I am going cut them to length and put a rubber cap on the exposed ends

I had a similar problem but I think that mine is do to calcium drying out in the lines over the winter. We put the boat back in the water last week. I had some leaks, plenty of pressure in the head sink, no pressure in the galley. I took off the the filter at the faucet and it was completely plugged. Cleaned it out and all is better plenty of pressure now

thanks Stu. It's always easier the second time you do some isn't. I was concerned about trying to change it while in the water. I didn't want it to sink sitting at the dock. That would be just way too embarrassing
