I have a 1986 they didn't have blowers in them from the factory. Still doesn't have one it's a diesel. Charlie

I leave my fridge on all summer. I also have a 20 amp charger with Walmart wet cell batteries. I don't have any problems my batteries usually last 6 to 8 years leave them in the boat over the winter. Unhook the negative, check  them every spring they read 12.6v. Charlie

Yes all the fuel docks in Canada are full service. All the ones I have been too will not let the boat owner pump fuel . Charlie

Guys I use a paper towel over the vent hole when I am filling. My right hand is on the fuel fill, my left hand covers the vent with a paper towel. I have a 1986 mk1. Some of the Canada Marina I visit have an absorbing pad on a stick they are very picky about over flow. Charlie

If your transmission is  screechy you have a problem of interference from your boat. Most likey a refrigeration unit. Some of the new refrig units have variable speed motors that are a problem. Charlie

Main Message Board / Re: New Forestay - Old Furler?
January 30, 2018, 08:49:12 PM
HI replaced my original profurl with a Schafer jib furler.  Couldn't get the forestay to untread from the pro furl drum. So I had to cut it off. Measured the length  3 times then had the yard swedge on a new end. I put in a turnbuckle so I can adjust the forestay length. The turnbuckle adds extra length to make up what I cut off.  Measure the original length then set the turnbuckle in the middle so you can go either way. Charlie

I replaced my vetus cowl vents with new vetus  , just the top part.  Wasted my money with in a few years they had a big brown spot on the top. They were the white ones with red interior. Charlie

I agree with mainsail you need to check the feed back wire for a corroded connection at one of the terminals.  Corroded connections are the number one source of electrical problems.  Charlie

I have a 1986 with no limber hole under the v berth. I usually don't water up there but when I do I have a small bilge pump with a hose into the main bilge. I have a water tank in the v berth one time the inspection port leaked. Charlie

Great you tube survey always nice to look at another 34 and see what they have done customize there boat. The trash can idea ok but for us bigger people it might get in the way. Charlie

They make lugs that have a screw type compression. They work great in some times better than crimping.  They can also be reused. Charlie

Bought one threw a Kubota parts warehouse for around $79 + shipping came with a gasket. Some times the ones from universal don't come with a gasket. Plus they are $399 Charlie

Have the same problem. What I do is take dip stick 1/2 out break the air seal put it back in. Then it reads ok. Charlie

Can't really reply to sail shape when reefed. Mine is ok but I have a 150% jib which the sail shape is only good when all the way out. Charlie
