Perhaps there could be reciprocity between the 2 organizations (C36 & C34) so members could get full benefits of both sites to entice new members to one or the other.  Both sites have excellent information and knowledge to share (I am a member of C36IA).

Ron, I looked on line at Harbor Freight and could not find.  Am I missing something in my search?

Thanks

That's a loaded question.  Your definition of hot may be different from mine and others.  Depending on the degree of heat and where you mounted, it could be of concern.  It would most certainly be worth looking at other alternatives.

A no no to use diesel, will not burn well and create too much smoke.  Paraffin lamp oil works best and is readily available.  You could possibly use kerosene, but be sure to keep the area well ventilated.

It takes me about 1 & 1/2 gallons to do one coat on a C36 (not that much difference between the two models).

I would 2nd the use of a bowline.  Mine has the same and have not had any problems to date on this one or for that matter previous as well.

Thanks Stu, this is a big help and gives a place to start.  It looks pretty straightforward and functional.

Ron, unfortunatley, I can't access.  While I am a dues paying member of C36IA, I am not of C34IA (can't get past the log in).  Though I do very much appreciate your help.

Stu, a while back you responded to a post on Sailboatowners.com about your mast boot and mentioned you have a Sunbrella cover to go over the "ugly duckling".  Do you by chance have a picture of the cover you would be willing to post?

Here's a picture of our mast boot
Flexible plastic with two big hose clamps and a slit at the aft end.

PS we cover this ugly duckling with a sunbrella cover...

Thanks,

Not sure if your problem is similar, but here goes.  I made a mistake  last year and put the hose connector on backwards, it seems it has a check valve in it so there is no backflow (only allows the water to flow one way).  I reversed and the water went through just fine.  It was one of those things that make you feel foolish, but I was glad that it was correctable with no cost except to my pride.

Another consideration would be a Tufted Topper.  I used one on a previous boat and was satisfied with it, i would have a decent nights sleep without much aches and pains in the morning.

I mounted mine on the the hatches, this way I did not have to put the hole(s) in the deck.  They seem to work well as I do not notice any foul smells below even when I have been away from her for extended periods of time (One is set to intake, the other exhaust).

To a degree, it's going to depend on the dog's personality.  While mine is not a classic water dog, he loves to veg. out on the boat and goes all night without having to make a run to shore for relief.

Bottom line, get one you like as you will spend more time with it than just on the boat.
