On our 2004 we installed a Leece Neville 105 amp alternator with an Xantrex regulator mounted on starboard engine bulkhead. We have the two standard 4D and also a Trojan 27 starting battery housed under the head sink area. We glassed in 2X4 pieces and painted them same color as fibreglass. Very professional if I do do say so!  The stock Universal is a pos! A Link 10 was installed last January. Make sure you program the Link with the correct amp hour capacity available from the Exide web site. In position 2 we can charge all batteries at dock and then turn selector to ALL when starting and leaving the dock.
Has worked great since day 1, also I am anal in checking all batteries monthly and using distilled water.

It is a ploy in order to arrange bailout funds and decieve Congress. Heard there was a flotilla (Catalina, Hunter and Beneteau) heading to Washington via the Intercoastal Waterway. Rumours via Bloomberg is that they are installing hybrid Yanmars as well!

We installed an Xintex CO Sentinel, model CMD 4MR. West Marine had them on sale last weekend with 20% off and no provincial tax. We wired it to our cabin light breaker and also put in an inline fuse that had tinned wire. All connections were soldered and heat wrapped.
This model only draws 16 milliamps!

Problem solved...set screws were not fully seated as shaft was not far enough in. Also reset both set screws with blue thread locker as advised by Edson.

Main Message Board / Edson Pedestal Brake Problem

Our boat is a 2004. While greasing the chain yesterday, I decided to check as to why our brake has never functioned well. Outside snap ring was in place, both hex screws were tight as were all screws in the housing and there was no grease on the brake material. With the knurled nob tightened, the wheel still turns easily. It seems as if the rod that goes through to the brake is about an 1/8" to short to fully push against the braking mechanism. If I place a screwdriver tip between the brake and the housing then it works fine when tightened.
Anybody with similar experiences. Your comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

While in the states for a vacation in April, I ordered a E2000 from Mayberry for $879 all in. Canadian price was $1599 plus PST and GST. No state tax and shipping to Point Roberts,Washington included. I declared this as part of my $750 duty free and the nice people at Canada Customs waived any fees on the difference.
I too looked at the other options but a frend of mine who has worked for a Honda dealer and now works for a indy shop suggested to go with big red!
Bottom line, you get what you pay for. Good luck!

Suggest you all with M35B check the hoses leading to the HW tank. They can also rub against a plywood bulkhead (with very sharp edges)on the port side in the engine compartment.. Just look for the little tailings. I've split a piece of hose (non wire insert) lengthwise and wrapped the offending hose with electrical ties.

FOOD, A TOPIC CLOSE TO MY HEART!
Anyone want to share favorite breakfast, lunch or dinner suggestions?
We are heading up to Desolation Sound and the Broughtons for 6 weeks or more in late May. Buddy boat will be a Catalina 42. We will be doing galley duty every second day.
We hope to subsist on a diet of prawns, crab and salmon once we are there but are open to hot favorites.
Thanks

The threaded portion of this unit on which the wire is secured is spinning within the complete unit. Discovered this when I went to tighten it. Engine temp readings have been fine.
Is this normal or should the complete unit be replaced?

FYI, our local Walmart carries the Starbrite Non Skid Deck Cleaner for $5.97, the Instant Hull Cleaner for $9.46, the Marine Polish for $8.97 and the Boat Wash for $3.97

The West Marine prices for the same products are $13.99, $19.99, $17.99 and $8.59 respectively!

In the fall, when they clear out their summer products, these items are in the $3 to $4 range.

Caveat Emptor!

I just replaced the 11" hose from the exhaust manifold to the H/X on my M35B. The original hose had a wire insert. I was advised by Gallery Marine (Universal dealer) that if the hose was to have any suction issues, bends or subject to chafing then go with a wire insert. In my case it did not and hence the "softer" hose would be acceptable. It was also very much easier to install!
Since you have a longer run and possible chafing and the hose disappears from view, (out of sight, out of mind), go with the wire insert. In my case the price difference was negligble. If it's a bit more, so what, the piece of mind would be worth it!

Is your stove 20 years old? Assuming you have a full tank of propane and this is not the problem, I would take your stove to a Seaward dealer along with your tank hardware. Your whole system should be checked. Parts will deteriorate over time. This is one system where you do not want to cut corners. We had an oven problem similar to yours on our boat when brand new in 2004. Dealer did not check this but this should have been part of the commissioning process. Catalina does not warranty the stove, Seaward does. It was my responsibility to get it out of the boat and deliver to the local Seaward dealer! Once repaired the dealer kindly installed it for me. When you pop it back in, bake some scones and ensure it has been repaired properly.
