Main Message Board / Re: C34 vs C36?

PK,

The MK11 model does have a larger cockpit. When you get a MK11 beside a MK1 the size difference in the cockpit becomes very apparent.

We also would not trade our MK11 34' for anything else we have see at the boat shows. Our decision was partly based on $$$, the 34' was the cheapest of all the boats we considered. We considered the 36', but felt the 34' was a better value. We also prefere the layout of the 34'.

Good luck whichever way you go, as Jack posted the specifications are very similar.

Fleet 5 / Re: Summer 2009 Gulf Islands Rendezvous
May 13, 2009, 11:36:19 PM
We are heading up to the Gulf Islands from Olympia, Wa. on June 18th, returning the weekend of July 4th. Currently we plan on travelling as far North as Nanaimo. We may extend the vacation a couple days if there is a BC/Fleet 5 rendezvous in the central to southern Gulf Islands. We have Montague Harbour circled as a place to anchor and spend some time on the trip.

Any suggestions from our BC neighbors on anchorages that must be visited while in the Gulf Islands. This will be our second trip up, we throughly enjoyed the first trip but it was not long enough, it seems the trips never are.

My 2006 Hull#1760 also had lots of loose (semi-tight) hose clamps.  My boat had a piece of black colored hose connecting the hot water heater to the hot water distribution system.  It was about a 4"  long hose, but popped off 3 times, I even double clamped it; I pulled the hose off and it was so hard it did not form fit with the clamps around the fitting. A trip to the auto parts store and for less than $1.00 I bought a short piece of the right hose.  The hose has never popped off since. A new length of hose and tighening all clamps should solve your problem.

How did you get the discount? Our Boat US membership in also up for renewal, but I did not see anything about discounts in the package.

Very nice, looks like the same size as the smaller table in our MK11. We turn ours side ways to allow even more room around the table, the compression post does not get in the way.

True Ron,

Seems that pressing on the alternator + its own weight allows you to easily tighten.

If you have the M35B loosen top bracket and just push on the alternator till belt is tight.

POG....Would that be the CY445. Check the Catalina site, it is up. From the specs it rates as a racing boat, going back to a narrow beam based on the length.

Looks like Catalina wants to get back to a boat that performs.

Tom/Steve.....

If you show up unannounced at a fleet 5 event just bring food for the potluck. We are easy and will accept anyone with food.....LOL

PS...We spent 10 days up in the Gulf Islands 2 years ago on Somewhere's first trip.

The folding wheel came stock on our boat. This is one option I would not do without. It adds convienance moving around in the cockpit, and makes it easier to exit out the back of the boat.

Enjoy your new wheel.

Braxton,

We make multiple trips threw the narrows and down to Olympia. You just need to be threw the narrows before ebb. You will only have about a knot of current once threw the narrows.

Look forward to seeing you at Penrose.

Nice pictures Jack,

We had to mount our hinges in the back (starboard side) the top would not clear the cabinets. First mod I did on Somewhere, made the Admiral very happy.

The barrel bolt installation to secure the sliding hatch from inside the boat.
