My family situation has changed and I am moving to a land locked area. I bought this boat in 2021 and brought it fully up to spec and then some. It is located at the Herrington Harbour North Marina in Deale, MD. Price includes slip at HH North and launch in the Spring 5K value. This is my first time listing a boat, so if I miss something important please let me know. Asking price $67500. I do realize that it's higher than the normal market, which is at around 40K but please go through the upgrades to understand the ask. I am not trying to make money here. Because there is a limitation on the number of photos here, please see more at https://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/103194

Catalina 34s for Sale / where to list 1988 C34
December 22, 2023, 03:24:08 AM
Hi folks, I am planning to list my 1988 C34 here, but also was curious what other sites should I use. I am not planning to engage a broker, so yacht world is not an option.

Main Message Board / monitor mount
March 31, 2022, 04:58:43 AM
Hi all, I need to setup to be able to work from the boat. I am in tech, so need to be able to mount 32-38" monitor. I was thinking to use a wall type mount and screw it to the mast, but wanted to check with the group to see if anyone else has done it and approach they took.

Hi all, I have reached out to local vendor to install Raymarine i60 Wind Pack, with Short Arm Vane Transducer on my 1988 C34. Vendor asked for 2K to do the install. Does this sound reasonable? asking as a newbie

Hi All, I have searched Tech Wiki and the overall site, but could not find any articles or threads on replacing starboard side manual winch with an electric one. Has anyone done it? Any feedback on the best way to install?

Main Message Board / cracks in the keel
June 20, 2021, 07:06:38 AM
Hi all, finally got the bottom blasted and it revealed a number of cracks in the keel and one crack in the hull above prop. As a newbie to sailboats I need some advice as to what to do. Is it reparable? Can the whole thing be replaced? 1988 C34 wing keel. Photos are here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ztwfap48tNRYNu5t9

Looking to replace original 2 blade prop on the new to me 1988 C34 M25X diesel. So far the reading I have done here points to 15 - 10 prop. I am leaning towards a fixed blade prop as I heard/read issues with folding props not engaging when put in reverse. Curious what the group is using for both fixed and folding as far as brand, size, pitch, size of the blade (sailor thinner or regular larger blade).

Main Message Board / winch on the mast
April 01, 2021, 06:46:07 AM
Another newbie question. I am working with a local rigger to change my setup for a short handed sailing. He recommended to move both spinnaker and headsail halyards to the boom to free up port side for other needs, such as vang, reefing, etc. I was thinking if it could make sense to move my non self-tailing winch to the mast and install a self-tailer to port. Has anyone done this? Good idea? Bad idea?

As a newby to both sailing and specifically C34s I am looking for the wisdom of the community. I have purchased a 1988 C34 tall rig with the wing keel, and while the boat is an overall good condition it needs new standing and running rigging, as well as, new sails. If you had the opportunity to refit your boat, what would be the "ultimate" setup? One of the biggest problems I am trying to figure out is ability to reef from the cockpit. I am planning to single hand this boat primarily on the Chesapeake, but also want to set it up so I can take it coastal cruising. Looking through technical notes and reading posts here I am getting a bit overwhelmed. I am about to make a significant investment and planning to keep this boat for 5-8 years, so would like to get it "right" without having the practical knowledge. My experience with sailing is ASA 101-104, sailing on a sail only 24 foot boat with hank on sails, Bene 41 with everything furling and autopilot, and Seawind 1190 catamaran for a week last May.

Just purchased 1988 Catalina C34 Tall Rig with Wing keel. Looking for advice for light wind sails and setup for the Chesapeake. Should I invest in a bow sprit, mast modification to run furling Code 0 for example or just get 135-140% Genoa?

Hi all, I just purchased a 1988 C34 and have few projects that I want to do on the boat, one of them being windlass and another AC. Anyone can recommend an installer/yard on the Chesapeake?
