Main Message Board / Replacement fuel pump for M25XP
December 02, 2023, 10:07:16 AM
Gents,

Does anyone have link to fuel pump replacement for the M25XP? I'll need to go to a local auto store. I'm needing the GPH and PSI specs. I found this one and I think it works. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/BK_6101075?cid=paidsearch_shopping_dcoe_google&store=31162&campaign=GSC-Fuel-Emissions&campaign_id=10951730297&adgroup_id=113117085528&adtype=pla&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1

I'm on anchor in a bad spot waiting for sea tow so if you don't actually now what fuel filter would replace it than don't respond.

Thanks,

Is My Island Wi-Fi no longer an option in the Bahamas? Seems like they are no longer accepting new customers.

What are the current solutions you guys are using for the Bahamas?

I'm looking into Start Link Roam, has anyone had luck with that?

Main Message Board / Raymarine Axiom 7 vs Axiom+ 7
April 04, 2023, 08:57:27 AM
Good afternoon,

I've had an Axiom 7 MFD for about 3-4 years now and my chief complaint is that we it rains, gets dew, ect.., I cannot control the touch screen. Sometimes this can really screw you over. I use an iphone with Navionics for back.

Does any have the newer Axiom+ 7 with the upgraded touch screen? If so, does it actually work when it gets wet?

The next option is the Axiom Pro S which has physical buttons but is a lot more expensive.

Thanks,

Has anyone installed a Bluetooth engine temp sensor? I would like to be able to set alarms on my iPhone, so I get them when I'm down below.

What type did you get?

Main Message Board / GSI Stove Stopped Working
February 16, 2023, 08:23:54 AM
Gents,

I'm planning on heading out into the Gulf tomorrow and low and behold I go to make coffee this morning and the stove just doesn't work. I've never had a problem with it so I have no clue how to trouble shoot or fix at the last minute. What I've done:

1. Check propane level- 110PSI and the tank is heavy.
2. Checked the saftey switch in the galley for power, it has power, I hit the reset button.
3. Check attachment at tank, looks great.
4. Disconnected tank and reinstalled.
5. Took top of stove off and looks fine.

Is thier a simple issue that usally causes this? Just some bone head thing I don't know about?

Main Message Board / Lithium Battery Bank and Starter
February 08, 2023, 09:47:54 AM
Has anyone gone all lithium for their battery battery bank to include the starter battery?

I want one bank wired in parallel with all Lithium batteries but I don't think it will push enough CCA to start the engine.

Main Message Board / Exhaust System
January 26, 2023, 10:12:45 AM
Gents,

Is ther any routine maintance required for the wet exhaust system? Some of my clamps rusted away and I had a leak, which i fixed. That got me thinking.

Do you need to clean that system out every once in a while, or anything?

Main Message Board / Standing Rigging Tension
May 19, 2022, 05:54:29 PM
All,

What is the correct standing rigging tension for the C34? I had my RE done awhile ago and they are loose. I want to dial it in for a big off shore sail I'm about to do. Also, what gauge do I need?
Based off of the rigging MM?

Thanks.

Gents,

I've been working on some Off-Shore projects for this sailing season. I'm not doing anything to big, but I'll be heading from Destin FL to the Dry Tortugas 400nm direct across the Gulf of Mexico in May. For this season I got an Off-Shore life raft (Revere Regatta 4p), IridiumGo, and a Jordan Series Drogue. For the drogue I didn't trust the cleats on the aft, there are only 2 bolts holding them down, they are small and have small washers on them, plus there would be tons of chaffing in that configurations.

I ended up using 5/8" chain plates on the outside of the hull with large 5/8" thick Stainless Steel backing plates inside the hull. The plates are attached with ½" bolts and 2" washers, all SS. I used 3M 4200 in the holes and all over the chain plates and backing plates; no way it is leaking. Ocean Brake built my drogue, I believe it is 105 Cones.  It feels over built to me which is what I wanted, I would imagine it would tear the back of boat off before that system broke. I'm a single-hander, so in the rare event I had to deploy it I want to just set it and forget it. Now I just need to go onto the gulf and practice retrieving it one time.

Main Message Board / Engine Not Producing Full Power
February 11, 2022, 02:21:02 PM
Good evening everyone,

I had my local marina mechanics change out my water flange (for way to much money) which requires taking the gear case assembling off. Now that is all back together the engine does not power up fully. When idling it sounds just fine, but when I push the throttle up it only reaches like 1900-2000 RPM at Max throttle. It sort of sounds muffled. I changed out both fuel filters, nothing changed. I took off the air intake and inspected it, just fine. The throttle assembly on the engine is going to full throttle position. The engine ran for 2+ hours the day prior to them touching and it was running great.

What could this be?

Link to You Tube showing the problem: https://youtu.be/OAQbiWK48GU

No, they won't help me now. They just keep asking me if it was like that before, so I gave up asking them.

Anything would help.

Thanks,

MQ

Hello all,

What could be causing this yellow sort of glue like material to come out of the back side of the forward most fuel injector? I'm not sure exactly where it is come out, but photos help to explain. The engine is running fine. There was also some tiny piles of what looked like water bubbles.

Gents,

When I turn the water pressure on my water pump, attached photo, doesn't turn off. This just recently happened. I have inspected any for a leak and I don't see one. Once it has pressure the pressure will remain over night. I have filled the water tanks once and that stopped it. But after a little use it just keeps going.

1. Is this a sign of the end of life for the pump? It's from 2013.
2. Has anyone opened the pump and fixed it or anything?
3. Could it be something else?

Gentlemen,

I went to do a trans fluid check the other day and the bolt on the top just spins.  I tried wedging a screw driver in and Turing at the same time, to no avail.  I also tried using a vis-grip and applying upward pressure but that didn't work.

Does anyone have any tips?

I'm about to call it quits and pay someone to fix it.  The aluminum treads must be shot. Hurth HBW50 with direct drive.

Main Message Board / Engine Soundproofing
September 24, 2020, 06:41:11 AM
Good morning,

The old sound proofing in my engine compartment has dried up and started to just fall apart.  Does anybody have good advise on a new product to use and thickness?  Does it need to be Marine Grade, which is far more expensive.

Thanks,

Gents,

I took the boat out yesterday and had to motor for about 2 hours.  Engine was fine, performance was good and temp stayed good the entire time.  When I got to anchorage I went in the head and noticed black soot on the engine side door compartment (Pic 1).  I opened it and notice all the black soot on the inside of the door (pic 1).  I opened the engine compartment up (Pic 2) and noticed all the soot on what I believe is the alternator (Pic 3).  What could cause this?  It has never happened before with over 100+ hours put on the engine.  I have zero engine mechanical experience, I can change oil, that's about it.

Also, the raw water intake looks rough to me.  Just noticed that.  What do I do, just scrape all the salt off? Any damage done here?  (Pic 4)

Thanks,

Main Message Board / Water Filter Part
September 02, 2019, 12:12:53 PM
Gents,

I was doing water system maintenance and pulled my filter out to get a replacement.  I guess this model is no longer made or I just couldn't find the part.  Is this a filter used in any other C34? Do you know how to get a replacement?  There is not a lot of room for a new filter, but maybe I have to do that, got any advice if that is the route I need to take?

Thanks,
