Main Message Board / windlass

I have a 1993 34 with a windless that has a drum for a rope rode, but my rode is rope and chain. it works fine with the rope but when it gets to the chain its tough because the chain slips om the drum unless you really pull. I was thinking of getting a maxwell that handles both. when I looked at them it seems like I'd have to do a lot of modifications any experience with this.

Main Message Board / I bought the boat

Hi
I bought the boat :clap. Very happy sails great but, there are problems.1) it has a st 5000, it was OK then the compass was off by 30 degrees and it started to go wild.2) the gear shift creeps from N to F on its own and the throttle creeps down.3) I got a dingy and motor (4 hp/4cyc Mercury) how do I get the motor from the stern pulpit to the dingy w/o dropping it in the water or paying $300-800 for a hoist.

Hi
looking at C34 1993. it has a Yanmar 38hp and appears to be in great shape well maintained. listed at 57 I countered 48 he countered 50. It has a 2011 st 5000. In the posts I've read they say it has a lot of problems. Any thoughts?

Hi,
Would appreciate any advice. I'm looking at a 1990 c34 could you tell me what to look for as far as inherent problems. I would like to find big problems to rule out the boat before hiring a surveyor. I've been sailing on L I Sound a few years but have never owned a boat. We're moving to Tampa in March and may have found The boat. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
