I suspect the PO of my boat let the windless do all the heavy lifting instead of the boat.  My motor is almost completely fried.  Looking to buy a replacement as I opened it up and itís likely beyond a rebuild.   Has anyone upgraded their windless and has a spare vw500 motor for the model which includes the 1/4 inch chain gypsy?
PM me if you do.

Main Message Board / Engine lift mounting question.
« on: June 23, 2020, 09:48:00 AM »
Would love input into the best way to mount my new engine lift to the transom.  I was thinking of the plate at the bottom of the pole directly to the fibreglass and then piece of  plywood between fibreglass and backing plate on the inside.  4200 before tightening up.  Would love to hear if you had a better plan?  The end of the mop handle indicates where I plan to install the base.  Lifting a 2 stroke 9.9 so there will be a good 80 lbs on it while operating.   The other end of the lift has a mounting bracket on the stern rail.

Even though the Sherwood 9000K impeller looks identical to my current impeller, it won't go on the shaft? From everything Iíve read, this is the right size for a 2003 era M35B. Has anyone else had this experience?  Do they ever screw up the sizing and put out bad products?

Just wanted to see if anyone has installed a Raritan PH Superflush with the larger household bowl in a Mark II?  The price is close to the same as the compact model so I would love a larger seat if the option was there?

Main Message Board / C34 MKII 1000 Islands Video/Drone shots
« on: February 01, 2019, 01:44:09 PM »
I usually cut a yearly video of my summer sailing in 1000 Islands Ontario/NY State and fall in Toronto.  Thought I would share in case some members wanted to see what the area is like.  Note, this is a family video so you will have to sit through the odd shot of some of my family members.  I ended up buying a drone at the end of The season which is why there is limited drone footage.  The other boat is my brotherís CS34

Main Message Board / Hot water tank mystery 2003 MKII??

Any plumbing wizards out there that can tell me why my hot water tank starts dumping water out of the indicated hose when I try and charge the water system?  Its a steady stream out of the rear valve/black hose. Any help would be appreciated.  Iím really dumb with this stiff.  Pics attached.

Main Message Board / Shore Power No Battery Question
« on: April 08, 2017, 09:42:59 AM »
On the hard hooked up to shore power. I have removed the batteries.  The only thing I can power are the outlets. How come features like the bilge pump on the breaker panel are not getting any power?

I have searched all over and have yet to find an answer. I'm sure it's out there and I risk getting scolded but I'm asking anyway.   Upgrading batteries to 4 6v Trojan T 145's. I plan on keeping my 1-2-both switch factory set for now and will not run alt directly to main bank.  I need to buy a small emergency battery (starting battery).  Because I plan on using the main bank for everything, including starting, should my back up be a small "starting" battery or a small "deep cycle" battery.  The smaller the better as I may try and fit it on the Starboard side of the water heater.   Is group 24 too small if it's just a backup to get the engine running?

Excuse the dirt you see in the picture. The boat is brand new to me and needs a good cleaning.

Main Message Board / Outboard mount weight limit
« on: December 15, 2016, 12:21:29 PM »
Hey just bought a 2003 mkII.  Wondering if anyone knows the max weight for this outboard mount?  I have a Mercury 9.9 2 stroke that must weigh between 75 and 80 lbs. Also, how do I know what hull number I have? I assume it says on the hull serial number?

Main Message Board / Propane question
« on: September 26, 2016, 05:00:01 PM »
Apologies if this has been covered before. Just bought a 03 Cat 34 and it's my first time with a boat that has a propane cooktop and stove.  Can someone explain to me how one can use a propane stove in a small space without gassing themselves?  I recall many people dying after the ice storm of 98 in Quebec when they lost power and used propane BBQ's in their house for warmth.
